EMV is the international financial industry standard for POS terminals and ATM with smart payment cards and usable chip cards. The information of EMV smart cards (also known as IC cards) is stored in integrated circuits rather than magnetic stripes in the past, but most EMV cards also have downward compatible magnetic stripes. The chip can exchange data with the plug-in card reader, and the contactless smart card can also exchange data within a certain range using radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. Payment cards that match EMV standards are called chip cards.
